7-year-old hit and killed on bike in Merced

Merced Police say the 7-year-old was riding her bike in the parking lot of the Sunnyview Apartments on D Street near 11th when she was hit by a truck.

Witnesses say the driver stopped immediately and tried to help.

Paramedics rushed the little girl to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Officers say it does not appear the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and he is cooperating with the investigation.
