Woman struck by a train in Central Fresno

FRESNO, Calif.

Fresno County Sheriff's Deputies say the accident happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning near the train tracks along Palm and Dakota.

Authorities say the woman was standing too close to the tracks when her hand was hit by an oncoming train. The victim ran to get help at a nearby home before being taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

Investigators say the woman appears to be homeless and they're still looking into the accident.
