It happened around 10 p.m. Saturday night at the Quality Food and Liquor Store near Blackstone and Brown in Central Fresno.
Officers say the victim and a friend were walking into the liquor store when they encountered the suspect.
Some words were exchanged and then four shots were fired. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators are still searching for the suspect and are asking anyone with information to call the Fresno Police Department.
