Police surrounded a home on Pico and Gettysburg for hours. Police say they were called to the home around 3:00 Tuesday afternoon for a suicidal subject, the first officer on the scene heard a single gunshot.

Police blocked off the home for hours as they tried to make contact with the person inside, and eventually called in the bomb squad's robot to enter the home. Around 10:00 Tuesday night they entered the home and found the man dead.

A witness says he talked to the man just minutes before he heard the gunshot. "I kept talking to him, told him to give me the gun and he said if I don't quit talking to him, he's going to shoot himself. So I just shut up," said Scott Brown. And the police officer came, and that's when we heard a gunshot."

Police blocked off Marks Avenue from south of Shaw to Ashlan, all afternoon and evening, as they tried to make contact with the person inside the home.
