It happened just before one this morning when a truck carrying a load of oranges overturned just south of road 12.

For over seven hours, the two northbound lanes of Highway 99 looked like a parking lot with big rig trucks sandwiched together and no room to turn around or get out.

Witnesses say the driver of this truck swerved and lost control. His truck landed on its side blocking the lanes. Drivers just behind the accident had to slam on their brakes to avoid a chain reaction crash.

CHP investigators said they were amazed no one was hurt.

Inside the overturned truck were 30,000 pounds of oranges, making the trailer too heavy to upright it without unloading it first. A handful of men did it by hand, which took hours.

Among those stuck was a bus full of Greyhound passengers who battled boredom and frustration.

They were finally let through when the CHP reopened one of the lanes at 8 a.m. Friday morning.
