The Coulterville Greeley School is located on Fiske Road in Greeley Hill. It serves about 70 kindergarten through eighth grade students.

If the campus shuts down, those kids would attend Lake Don Pedro Elementary instead. Parents say that trip can take at least half an hour by car and more than an hour by bus.

Greeley Hill Parent & Instructional Aide, Deana Lessley said, "When you've got kindergarten through 8th grade students traveling that far three hours a day on a bus. The biggest hardship is going to be for parents who are not going to be able to afford to travel down there, be active in their children's education."

Mariposa County Unified Superintendent, Aaron Rosander said, "The truth is we've got to balance the budget. It has to be balanced for three years, and they are a tough decision that will likely be made in order to make that happen."

Catheys Valley Elementary School is also in danger of being shut down. The district's board of trustees is set to make a final decision April 28th.
