It happened just after midnight, in the 300 block of west Twelfth Street.
The victim told police he opened the door to find one woman with a knife, and the other with what appeared to be a gun.
He says they demanded money, and then one of the women stabbed him.
The victim was flown to a Modesto hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
Police are now looking for the two women who may have left the scene in a white truck.
