Pastor seeking to protest at mosque briefly jailed

DEARBORN, Mich.

The scheduled protest by the Rev. Terry Jones was supposed to occur at 5 p.m. Friday, but was scuttled by the court proceedings. A jury decided his past actions were evidence the protest outside the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn could lead to violence.

The judge ordered Jones to post the $1 bond to ensure he would not breach the peace. After he refused, he was arrested by Dearborn police.

burning of the Quran in March at Jones' church in Gainesville, Fla., inflamed anti-Western sentiment in Afghanistan and led to more than a dozen deaths.
