Clovis has chosen interim superintendent

FRESNO, Calif.

After several closed-door meetings, district trustees selected Associate Superintendent Steve Ward to become interim superintendent.

Ward has been with the district for 34 years, and was primarily in charge of administrative matters as associate superintendent.

Former Superintendent Terry Bradley will also serve as a consultant to Ward. He takes over in the short term for David Cash, who retired for unknown reasons last week.

Ward says his biggest challenge will be balancing the demands of schools in the face of mounting financial pressure. "We are committed to work with together with our leadership team and our employees to provide a quality education for the students of this district."

The district chose Ward, in part, because he says he does not want to be the permanent superintendent.

A search for that position is now underway.
