Couple busted with meat stuffed in pants

FRESNO, California

"You'd have to hide it under your shirt, I'd suppose."

"I've never stolen meat before."

"I ain't got enough clothes on to hide no meat."

"I'd have to put it up under my shirt... Only place I could hide it."

But that's not where police say 39-year-old Dan Beal was hiding meats they say he'd stolen from the Chickasha Walmart Super Center.

Authorities say store security was keeping a close eye on Beal and his shopping companion 42-year-old Bridgette Pugh, after the two entered the store for the third time that day.

"Carry a purse, put it in your purse."

And that's just where investigators say Pugh managed to stuff several rib-eye steaks. And as for Beal ... he denied stealing anything but police say Pugh ratted him out.

"As we're driving her to the jail, she tells me that he stuck them in the front of his pants."

"I imagine that would feel too comfortable."

"I don't know ... I ain't got much pants to hide them."

"What kind of meat?"

"It'd be too cold and big. Cause I'd do a big one if I stole it."

"I might hide some meat in my pants."

Police say they believe the couple has been stealing meat to sell for quite some time, but haven't had enough evidence on them until now.

"I've never actually caught anyone with meat in their pants, no."

"And they got caught? (Yeah) That's fantastic."
