Homeless remembered at Roeding Park in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif.

The memorial and celebration included live music and plenty of food.

Despite the festive atmosphere, organizers say they want to raise awareness about the homeless community because many of the deaths are preventable.

"Hopefully we can change things in the future. So everyone can get health care and a situation that would make life better for everbody, you know, everybodys life is important, you can put a price on life," Alphonso Williams said.

This year's event also honored Tonee Mello and Paul Orduno, two local homeless advocates who died within the past few months.
