Woman protests animal cruelty in Fresno Co. park

FRESNO, Calif.

Danielle Jones of Piedra set up a dog house at Kearney Park Sunday trying to call attention to a California law that prohibits people from chaining dogs for an extended period of time.

The demonstration was done on behalf of a Pennsylvania organization called 'Dogs Deserve Better' but Jones says the problem is nationwide, and here in the Valley.

"I don't like driving into town along certain streets because every other house you see a pit bull, or even a little mixed breed dogs, tiny little dogs, chained up and out in front with no shelter," Jones said. "Dogs Deserve Better" says dogs that are chained up aren't able to learn how to live with humans and are more likely to bite.

The organization works to raise awareness and support of laws protecting dogs and their living conditions.
