Erik Jacobs jumped from a boat and rode on the back of the shark for about 15-feet. Jacobs is an avid fisherman and says he knew what he was doing.
The shark is a basking shark, which eat plankton and small fish. The man says the risk was limited. Still, basking skarks are the second largest fish in the ocean, up to 30-feet long and weigh several tons.
