Pint for Pint Blood Drive surpasses its goal

FRESNO, Calif.

The two day blood drive wrapped up at five Valley locations Saturday afternoon including the Jenny Eller Donation Center in Northwest Fresno.

In all, 1,991 people donated blood this year and for many, it was their first time to donate. First time donors got big yellow stickers to mark the occasion.

For one Valley woman the blood drive also marked a promise fulfilled. "My brother - they donated a lot of blood to him. He passed away a couple of years ago, and I did promise him I would give back when I got the courage to do it. So here I am, that's why I'm here."

Everyone who donated blood got vouchers for a pint of Baskin Robbins Ice Cream which can be used at any store nationwide.
