The Highway Patrol says the truck was traveling from Hanford when it tried to turn from Benecia onto 5 1/2 Avenue, Officers say it was going too fast and flipped over.
Some of the chickens were killed in the crash, but hundreds of chickens were spilled out onto the roadway. Many ran off into a nearby orchard.
Officers say the driver was not injured and did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The company that owns the truck brought in another truck to help pick up all the chickens.
