The Merced County Sheriff is expected to retrieve the body of a man involved in a murder-suicide that spanned two counties. Deputies say the 22-year-old man shot and killed a woman in Merced County, then drove to an apartment in East Central Fresno. and took his own life.
Investigators say the man shot the woman near the intersection of Gerard and Lucy. They said the man and woman had two kids together.
Sheriff Mark Pazin says a neighbor broke up an argument between the couple. They say the man later returned and shot the woman. She died at the hospital.
"He basically leaned over the female neighbors shoulder and shot the victim multiple times," said Sheriff Pazin.
Fresno Police found the man's pick up at an East Central Fresno apartment complex. Officers found him and say he killed himself with a gun.
The couple's names have not been released.
Merced County sheriff's detectives must ask for permission from Fresno police to take the body. That's expected to be approved Wednesday.
