Project Linus makes blankets for children in need

FRESNO, Calif.

Dozens of volunteers gathered at Hope Lutheran Church in Fresno Saturday as part of a "Community Make A Blanket Day." All of the blankets will now go to the Central Valley's chapter of Project Linus, which collects blankets to deliver to children in need.

The organization gives out about 250 blankets to kids in Fresno and Tulare Counties each month and focuses on children in traumatic situations.

"The most difficult is trying to cut four inch lines," said volunteer Courtney Logan, "The funnest part is the people we meet and knowing a child is going to leave with a blanket."

About 60 blankets were made Saturday, but organizers say they can always use more help.
