FRESNO, Calif.

Heavy spring rain and record flooding prevented Durum Wheat planting on more than 1-million acres. This year's crop is expected to be only about 24.5 million bushels. That's about two-fifths of last year's.

The president of the American Italian Pasta Company says the price of pasta has jumped about 20 cents in the past few months. It now averages about a $1.48 a pound.

Milk from big dairies is cleaner than that from small ones.

A study from Wisconsin's Agriculture Department found lower bacteria levels in milk from big farms, even though both small and large farms met federal safety standards.

The study was published last month in the Journal Of Dairy Science.
