/*Sam Haley*/, 69, pleaded "no contest" to three counts of grand theft for crimes he committed in 2008.

Haley was accused of using a realtor's key to break into at least 17 homes, then renting them out.

As part of a plea deal, Haley agreed to pay back all the victims.

Sam Salhab, defense attorney said, "Mr. Haley did what he did today to put this matter behind him. As folks could see in court, he's an elderly man. He's not in very good condition and he did not want to keep coming to court. He wanted to make a resolution where he could take responsibility, but also put this case behind him."

Because Haley is a Vietnam veteran, he's eligible for a treatment program rather than jail time on the grand theft charges.

In November, a judge will decide whether he should get treatment or a jail sentence.
