O-Line Protection a Key at Idaho

FRESNO, Calif.

As the Bulldog offense showed in the first quarter of the North Dakota game, if the offensive line is pass protecting Derek Carr, or opening up holes for Robbie Rouse, Fresno State can score some points in a hurry.

Derek Carr completed the first two long passes he attempted against the Fighting Sioux, mainly because he had the time to. At practice this week, fill-in center Leslie Cooper made sure to beef up protection for Carr during interviews with the media.

"Coop's job is to protect me as you can see," said Carr. "He's not going to let anybody touch me today. And if we can do that for five days this week we're going to be doing just fine on Saturday."

Carr may have been slightly joking with Cooper there, but his words couldn't be truer: Give him time to throw, or open up holes for the running backs, and the bulldogs should escape Moscow with a WAC-opening win.
