"New beginnings for animals in Merced" received a call from an animal control officer asking if they could take in a dog over the weekend. He says the catahoula mix wandered up to him and collapsed Saturday. Since then, they have been working to bring him back to a healthy weight. Volunteers at the shelter affectionately call the dog Bones.
Sharon Lohman said, "Normally we wouldn't even take him on because it's going to be expensive with the plasma, transfusions, the IV's. But, this dog has suffered for months and we wanna give him a chance at life and know what love is. We're going to take on the expense of this."
