They urged the state's Congressional delegation to support trade agreements with South Korea, Colombia and Panama.

President Obama has submitted the agreements to Congress.

The farm groups say the agreements will remove barriers to exports of California farm goods and add jobs to the state's economy.

Farmers believe they are close to getting permission to sell rice to China.

Rice industry officials recently hosted Chinese inspectors at farms in California and two other states.

The U.S. ships rice to more than one hundred countries, but China severely restricts American imports.

China says it hasn't certified that American rice is free of diseases, bugs or pests.

Experts say China has the potential to greatly drive up demand and prices for U.S. rice.
