Fresno homeless encampment goes up in flames

FRESNO, Calif.

Fire crews told Action News they were called to Monterey and H Streets for reports of a huge pile of debris on fire. When they arrived not only did they find debris on fire, but also an abandoned car burned as well.

Fire crews say the fire was intentionally set. There was no word on injuries.

The location is the same area where crews are set to clean up at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. The clean-up is the second in a week.

More than 40 people were cleared out near Santa Fe south of Ventura under the 41 overpass last Thursday. Fresno officials say they will mostly be picking up trash today.

City officials say they're now working to find homes for those who were evicted.
