Blind man falls on subway tracks; survives

KENSINGTON

He had just entered the church avenue station on the g-line. He was apparently standing dangerously close to the edge of the platform. That was something he didn't realize because he's legally-blind.

"I didn't know I was listing to the right, and I fell," he said.

Quinn didn't have to see the train to realize it was bearing down on him, but he landed in the rail bed.

Witnesses watched in horror as the train passed over him.

Something he didn't even realize until we told him this afternoon.

Moments later, firefighters pulled him to safety.

Quinn suffered a shattered ankle, a shoulder sprain and a badly-bruised eye socket. All injuries from the fall and not the nine ton subway car that passed within inches of his head. He's recovering at Maimonedes Medical Center.

More than 24 hours later, Quinn is not sure how he survived.
