Naked Fresno Pacific basketball player tries to steal patrol car

FRESNO, Calif.

/*Leonard Young*/, 21, is a red shirt freshman at /*Fresno Pacific*/. That means he hasn't played basketball this season -- but would be eligible in January.

The university says he was doing excellent in school -- both on and off the court -- until Monday night when young was kicked off the team for missing a game.

An hour later at 11:30, he reportedly ran from his apartment to a Chevron station, in the nude.

Fresno Police say they were called after Young started to damage cars and banged on the gas station's bulletproof glass.

When a police dog arrived at the station, officers say Young charged at him, jumped into the cruiser and tried to drive it away. An officer was able to put his foot on the brake and stop the car.

Young was tased and also bitten by the K9 -- before officers placed him under arrest.

Officials at Fresno Pacific say the incident is totally out of character for the former player.

Dennis Janzen, Fresno Pacific Athletic Director said, "We are surprised, we are shocked, saddened. We feel for Lenny, we're concerned for him, his family, and concerned for anyone else involved including the Fresno Police Department."

Leonard Young is facing charges of carjacking, resisting arrest, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
