Dense fog delays schools and flights in the Valley

FRESNO, Calif.

That advisory was lifted late Monday morning and visibility was expected to stay at one half-mile in some parts until early Monday afternoon.

The dense fog is to blame for several delays at Fresno Yosemite International Airport. Three flights from Fresno were delayed, Monday morning because of weather related problems. F.Y.I. officials said passengers had no choice but to sit and wait.

The fog lifted early and flights in and out of F.Y.I. were back to normal Monday afternoon.

If you're flying during the fog season, F.Y.I. officials say you should call your airline directly or check the airline's website for real time information about your flight's status.

The Visalia Unified School District issued a two hour delay in school bus routes due to the dense fog. Many parents opted to drive their kids to school themselves instead of waiting for their kids to arrive at school a bit late.

A total of 11 Valley schools issued foggy day school schedules Monday morning.
