An independent investigator has confirmed complaints against Merced County Clerk and Tax Collector Karen Adams.
The report found Adams created a hostile work environment by using sexual and discriminatory remarks towards her staff.
"We're taking some action as far as taking the elections department away from Ms. Adams and moving it to another department and hopefully that will rectify some of the problems that have been going down there in the past," said Merced County Supervisor John Pedrozo.
In a statement, Adams questioned the validity of the report and said, "The investigation was prompted by a disgruntled employee after her annual pay increase was denied due to deficient performance."
Adams says she doesn't plan to step down and will fight the accusations.
