Driver dies after being ejected from vehicle in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif.

The C.H.P. said 31-year old Jordan Stokes somehow lost control of his vehicle traveling from Highway 168 to 180 just after 3 a.m. Tuesday morning. He hit the center divide before Olive and launched himself across all four lanes and hit the south-side embankment before sliding down onto the street.

E.M.T.'s rushed him to the hospital with serious injuries after he was ejected from the SUV. He died during surgery Tuesday morning.

Witnesses at the scene described the startling crash. "I just seen a car driving fast on the freeway. Just flew off the freeway like nothing. And it hit head first and it bounced high and it flipped twice. Once it hit back the street and landed on there and I guess he was ejected and they said he's probably not going to make it."

Officers said fog wasn't a factor in the crash, but they're not ruling out alcohol at this point.
