FRESNO, Calif.

Central California water districts say nearly 200-thousand salmon eggs were destroyed when the U.S. Bureau Of Reclamation decreased water flows.

A spokesman for the bureau says the water release was necessary to make space for this year's rainfall.

A wine from a small Sonoma winery has been named Wine Spectator Magazine's Wine Of The Year.

Western Farm Press reports, the "Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2009" was chosen from among 16,000 wines reviewed in blind tastings. The 2009 Sonoma Coast is a blend of grapes from three vineyards.

A large solar plant could soon be coming to Western Fresno County.

The Westlands Water Distract has agreed to sell 3,600 acres of retired farmland to recurrent energy. The company would install 2.5-million solar panels on the site to generate power for 300-thousand homes.
