The crunch of a wood chipper is a sound that reminds Dr. Errol Leifer of his gutted front yard. Thursday's strong winds downed a large pine-tree in front of the family's Northwest home. The falling tree slammed into part of their garage but no one was hurt.

A spokesperson for the city of Fresno says the city received more than 400 service calls about trees blown over or split limbs in the area.

Meanwhile, one PG&E crew tells Action News, by Friday night, they will have worked more than 40 straight hours. The crew says they've been restoring power to Coalinga, Oakhurst and Fresno. But, Janet Jones says they still haven't made it to her house. Jones says her home lost power at about 10 p.m. on Thursday. She says she plans to throw out a lot of what's in her freezer.
