Last-minute shoppers descend on Valley stores

FRESNO, Calif.

Many of those eleventh-hour shoppers are right here in the Valley.

Thousands of people visited Fashion Fair Mall throughout Saturday as they waited until the last minute to finish their Christmas shopping.

Crowds of last-minute shoppers finished picking out gifts on the day before Christmas.

Procrastinators like Tommy Palacioz were trying to cross off everyone on their Christmas list - including himself.

"Family and friends. I have two more gifts and I got them - and then one for me of course," Palacioz said.

That was the case for other shoppers as well.

Jose Garcia couldn't help to get something for himself while shopping for his mom, but he does regret coming last minute.

"It's pretty bad, there's a lot of traffic everywhere, going into the stores, long lines," Garcia said.

Other shoppers expected traffic to be much worse

"Honestly today , I've gotten lucky every time I try to find me a spot, right up in front, So I think someone's looking down," shopper Martha Macias said.

Shopping wasn't the one thing that brought Macias into the mall.

"I just brought my daughters to come take pictures for the first time," she said.

Macias' 2-month-old twin daughters took pictures with Saint Nick - a moment captured in time to cherish for many more holidays to come.
