FRESNO, Calif.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates there will be 846-million bushels of corn on hand at the end of the summer.

The corn supply is considered low, which means demand will stay high.

That may push food prices higher this year because corn is a key ingredient in everything from soda to cereal to animal feed.

The biggest juice exporter in the world is refusing to give up a fungicide banned in the U.S.

Brazil says it will continue to use the fungicide even though it jeopardizes exports to the U.S. market.

Ag officials say the chemical is vital to combat the fast-spreading fungal disease black spot in Brazilian citrus groves.

The announcement comes just days after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said it would test all orange juice shipped to the United States for the fungicide and would ban imports with any detectable level.
