As part of a National Day of Service in honor of Dr. King, HandsOn Central California has organized a whole host of activities designed to serve those who have served our country.

The activities include assembling care packages, making valentines for vets and creating a portable mural depicting active military members, veterans and fallen heroes.

The event takes place today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Manchester Center in Central Fresno.

There's two showings of the documentary "The Way We Get By" at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

In addition, HandsOn Central California, Kaiser Permanente and the Community Food Bank will be partnering up to distribute 30-thousand pounds of food to military families and veterans.
