High-tech tools helping homeowners avoid foreclosure

FRESNO, Calif.

A program known as Keep Your Home California has helped 11 thousand people avoid foreclosure since it began one year ago.

Organizers say the program is capable of helping close to 100 thousand homeowners, but they are looking to increase awareness. The program has launched a Facebook page.

It also has a Twitter account and information can be sent straight to your phone by text message:

"Our goal is to help 80-to-100 thousand people, so it's really critical that we get the word out about these programs. everybody knows somebody that's struggling to pay their mortgage and this might be the program that could help them," Diane Richardson of Keep Your Home California said.

There are four programs available to homeowners.

Two help pay the mortgage, another will works with lenders to reduce loan amounts and the last provides relocation money for homeowners who can't avoid foreclosure.
