Police said at the time of the shooting, the 14 year old victim was standing on Harvey, working on a vehicle parked on the street. Investigators said that's when a 16 year old boy walked up, yelled something about gangs, and then started shooting. Police say the intended target was a member of a rival gang but the 14 year old was the only one hit. He suffered minor injuries and is expected to be okay.
A 16 year old and a 15 year old were taken into custody in the area of White and Clark. Police said the shooting was believed to be in retaliation for another shooting Sunday. In that incident, no one was injured.
