In this Jan. 25, 2011 photo, Janice Berenstain holds a copy of the first book, left, she and husband, Stanley Berenstain, created and the second book, which was the first to actually call the characters Berenstain Bears, as she stands, in Solebury, Pa., in the studio she shares with son Mike Berenstain. It used to be husband and wife Jan and Stan Berenstain creating the books, but their son Mike took over when his father died, continuing the tradition that started with the first book in 1962.
