Saint Agnes president and CEO, Nancy Hollingworth says the rooms were designed to help both patients and their families.

"The rooms are all private," said Hollingworth. "We have a better ability to accommodate families in the care-giving process of their loved ones."

Since a single patient stays in each room, there's more room for their family. Registered Nurse, Della Pisor says involving a patient's family is critical in their recovery. "When they take them home, they need to know how to take care of them. So education is not just for the patient but involving the families, also."

Each room is also equipped with a state-of-the art lift, which allows the staff to safely move a patient using a sling and an electronic pulley. It reduces the risk of injury to the patient and the staff members.

Computer stations in each room also streamline service and allow nurses and doctors to consult the patient's records while checking on their progress. It's all part of the $10 million expansion that started in January of last year and was completed last month.

Local artists and photographers donated their work, to decorate the hallways and rooms with scenes around the Valley.
