Monday, the man who hired Herrera nearly 40 years ago to help on his ranch, says he became part of the family.
Jerry Steffen said, "He's just the most honest and reliable person you could ever meet, just a terrific man and a father, just a wonderful guy, and I'm really going to miss him."
The CHP says the drunk driver is 45-year-old /*Elidio Gonzalez*/. He's in the hospital being treated for injuries he received in the crash. After that, he will be booked in the Fresno County Jail.
