Fresno County Sheriff's Deputies pulled over a car near Sanger on Del Rey near North Avenue. A passenger jumped out of the car with what sheriff's deputies believe to be an automatic rifle.
The passenger ran into a nearby orchard.
Two dozen officers and nine K9 units searched for the suspect for about four hours, but they weren't able to find him.
Deputies arrested the driver of the car for D.U.I.
