Neighbors reported hearing shots fired near North Street and Fourth Street in Madera around 6:30 p.m. Thursday night. Officers saw the victim and a relative drive up the emergency room at Madera Community Hospital while they were investigating an unrelated incident.
Officers went to the area where the shooting took place. Police say people were arguing before witnesses heard gunshots.
The victim is in stable condition. A suspect has not been identified.
