PG&E scam targeting senior citizens

FRESNO, Calif.

The caller claims you can save money on your bill, through new "government regulations."

They ask for your meter number and other specific personal information.

PG&E wants its customers to know, that they will never ask for credit card numbers or account information over the phone.

One potential victim believes that senior citizens are targeted because they're viewed as "vulnerable".

"When you're around home you do relax your guard when you get older and you're retired," said Charlotte Burleson. And people need to stay on their toes and be aware of things like this."

PG&E reminds its customers, to never give out personal information unless you're confident about whom you're speaking with.

They also say, if you have any doubts, hang up the phone and call the company directly.
