Experts say the rain makes strawberries more susceptible to mold. Some farmers loose about 20 percent of their crop. Now many growers are trying to harvest their fruit.

Corn and soybean stockpiles are expected to be the smallest in 16 years.

The reserves are lower than the government expected, and may potentially accelerate food-price inflation this year. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says corn inventories will be 37-percent lower than last year.

The U.S.D.A. is predicting food inflation will rise to 3-percent this year, the highest gain in five years.
