FRESNO, Calif.

A Washington state senator is urging the Obama administration to expand the sale of US-grown potatoes in Mexico.

Right now exported potatoes can only be sold within 16 miles of the US-Mexico border.

Washington is the second largest producer of potatoes in the us and is responsible for one-fifth of all exports to Mexico.

The US is buying record numbers of avocados from Mexico.

Mexican ag experts say a record amount of both fresh and processed avocado products were exported to the united states this year.

Ag experts say the US bought 600 thousand tons of avocados this production cycle, more than last year.
