Forty employees from the branch courts will move to Downtown Fresno. The closures will take place in Clovis, Coalinga, Firebaugh, Kingsburg, Reedley, Sanger, and Selma.

Employees are also asked to take a ten-percent pay cut. The reduction will go into effect in July for non-union workers. Union employees will be asked to take the cuts at their next contract negotiations.

"We will have the courtrooms open, we will have the cases heard. How fast we get them heard will be another thing," Judge Gary Hoff said. "As far as their ability to have access, they're still going to have access it's just not going to be convenient."

The Fresno superior court is also hoping to reduce seventy positions. Administrators say they have to do that through attrition.

They also acknowledge more cuts may be coming to the Fresno superior court over the next few years.
