Money raised will be used to build a temporary ice rink on the Fulton Mall later in the year.
Friday, Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer and Grizzlies Mascot Parker both got a sneak peek at the fundraiser event, putting on harnesses and then stepping off the 15th floor balcony.
Dyer said he rappelled from buildings before as a member of the SWAT team. "This is a little bit higher up, so it's going to be interesting for sure," said Dyer.
50 people have signed up for the opportunity to rappel down the building Saturday.

"If they want to do the fundraising, they have another month to do their fundraising campaign to get their friends and family to contribute, hold a carwash, whatever works for them. Or they can just come if they happen to have that much cash lying around and do it," said Kate Borders, C.E.O. of the Downtown Fresno Partnership.
Fresno Downtown Revitalization Director Craig Scharton raised his money in one day, making and selling more than 60 pizzas at the Fresno Brewing Company.
"I will be so tired tomorrow that I'll just kind of fall off the building when they tell me to go," said Scharton.
About 30 slots are still available and you can even sign up at the event.
