The scramble for freshly picked sweet corn is always a sight to behold.
More than 330-thousand ears of corn have already been sold, but shoppers know the Rue and Gwen Gibson Farm Market at Fresno State offers so much more, including tasty tomatoes and grapes.
"They have the best flavor here. The corn is so crisp. I go to other farmers market and always come back to Fresno State," Beth Anderson of Fresno said.
Shoppers appreciate the fact students are directly involved in growing the fruits and vegetables and processing the campus-raised meat.
"Very impressive to see the students create a lot of corn and learning experience for the students too," Chin Chau of Fresno said.
The store even sells organic egg plant, squash and other veggies.
On Saturday Fresno State hosts a Summer Farm Festival from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. You'll be able to take tours and see how your produce is raised in the field.
"They're actually able to pick their own fruit here. Organic offers a you-pick periodically and then just walk our fields and see our animals. See our live animals and see our products in the store," farm market manager Jesse Silva said.
In addition to trying store samples on Saturday, if you have a houseplant which doesn't look so good the Horticulture Department will be on hand to diagnose the problem.
