Volunteers make animal-friendly items for Valley shelters

FRESNO, Calif.

They met at a home in Northwest Fresno to make a variety of animal friendly items including leashes and bandanas that say "adopt me."

They also painted food and water bowls with that same message. They'll be donating the items to eight different Valley shelters.

It's all part of "national craft for your local shelters day," which was started by Fresno resident Erika Lindquist.

"It's another way for us to be able to give back...can't always give money so this is another opportunity to be able to give back," Lindquist said.

Lindquist checks with the shelters first to see what kind of items they can use.
