Around 10:48 a.m. Thursday a 3rd-party contractor construction crew was replacing an 8-inch water line at Glenview Drive and Earl Avenue when a backhoe hit a 2-inch distribution line, causing a gas leak.
PG&E crews responded quickly, arriving on scene around 11 a.m. The leak was capped at 11:24 a.m.
Residents were temporarily ordered to shelter-in-place and then evacuate as precautionary measures.
