Miss Winkles Pet Adoption Center fundraiser

FRESNO, Calif.

The Clovis Police Department has issued the following press release:

The seventh annual Friends of Clovis Pet Adoption Center fundraiser dinner tomorrow (8/11) evening will showcase adorable, adoptable animals as guests arrive.

"An evening in paradise" is the theme of this year's dinner with live and silent auctions, ipad drawing, pet photo contests and clovis city councilman harry armstrong's donation challenge to match every dollar given up to $10,000.00. Nearly 400 dinner guests have purchased tickets for the event at the clovis veterans memorial building. Proceeds will go toward construction of the new Miss Winkles Pet Adoption Center, Clovis, which is already underway. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The beach-themed dinner benefit is one of several fundraising efforts to complete the new facility at sierra and temperance. It will allow adoptable animals to be showcased in an air-cooled environment rather than in the "fan-cooled" old metal service building, which currently serves as their temporary home. Commemorative bricks with your pet or family name are available for a $100 donation per brick. They will be on display along the walkway to the new Miss Winkled Pet Adoption Center, Clovis. Room naming rights are also available through a convenient monthly contribution. A limited number of tickets to the dinner will be available at the door tomorrow evening.

Clovis Police Chief Janet Davis will address the audience at 8 p.m. She will recognize the family of the late Michael Lozito, who donated $50,000 for naming rights to the cat habitat. The chief will also thank those who have donated time and money to help the animals over the past year, and those who are working to make this new center a reality.
