Break the Barriers was presented with $5 thousand to purchase exercise equipment. The adaptive equipment will be used in a series of programs offered to disabled veterans through the VA hospital.
"We started opening our doors before having any funding. Now with this check we can buy the equipment that we need to really serve," Deby Hergenrader, executive director and co-founder of Break the Barriers, said.
Break the Barriers offers programs and classes where disabled veterans can compete in nation-wide games like Wounded Warriors, the Paralympics, and the Golden Age games.
